The legendary rock band is re-emerging after a 15-year split and will, among other things, play at Wembley next year.
It wasn’t a bad prank.
Oasis is re-emerging as a band after a 15-year split, the iconic Brit poppers confirm on their social media.
Although the rumors of an Oasis recovery really took off over the weekend, the news is still completely incomprehensible to P6 host Mads Gundersen.
– What fans have wanted, but also what was gradually considered impossible, has happened. England’s biggest rock band since The Beatles and The Rolling Stones has been restored, and the 15-year wait is over, says the radio host, who continues:
– I still have a bit of a hard time believing it, but Liam and Noel are reconciled. It was by far the biggest utopia in rock history, but the hype is huge. Now it must be redeemed.
Concerts confirmed – and more on the way
According to Oasis, it is a big tour this summer. So far only UK and Ireland concerts have been announced.
Four big concerts await at Wembley Stadium in London and in Heaton Park in Manchester, and then concerts in Dublin, Cardiff and Edinburgh.
The concerts will take place in July and August in 2025, and if you want to get hold of the tickets, you must note the date 31 August – i.e. now on Saturday – at 9.00 Danish time, when they go on sale.
Rumors were yesterday of ten huge concerts at Wembley, which would be a new record – and beat Taylor Swift’s eight sold-out concerts at the national arena.
According to the BBC, concerts in the rest of the world will fortunately be announced at a later date.
Oasis last played in Denmark at Roskilde Festival in 2009, which was on the same tour where they split up. Previously they have played in KB Hallen, Falkoner Salen, Valbyhallen, Forum in Copenhagen and at Smukfest.
The news of Oasis’ recovery also marks the 30th anniversary of the debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ on Thursday.
So has their second album ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’ until next year. An album containing the smash hits ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’, which really made the Manchester group big stars.
Liam has begged for recovery countless times
Oasis broke up in 2009 in the middle of a tour after a violent clash in which both plums and a guitar were thrown. Noel left the band immediately and has consistently denied any possibility of a reunion.
On the other hand, lead singer Liam has tried several times to persuade his older brother to reconcile so that Oasis could return. It has mostly been through Twitter, now X, where he has written nice messages addressed to his brother.
– The earth is calling Noel… I forgive you, so let’s restore the big O (Oasis)…, tweeted Liam Gallagher in 2015 .
When there was no response from Noel, Liam followed up with the message:
– I take that as a NO.
While the corona pandemic raged in 2020 and everything was shut down, Liam got the idea again. Oasis was going to save the world.
– After this is over, we have to bring Oasis together for a one-off concert for charity. Come on Noel, we can go back to our amazing solo careers afterwards, he wrote on the same social media, according to Gaffa .
On one occasion, Noel opened up to the idea of a restoration if lots and lots of money came on the table. And when he was asked about his award, he promptly replied to the media outlet Vulture in 2015:
– 5 billion kroner.
Whether the Gallagher brothers have received 5 billion for the just-announced restoration must remain uncertain.
