Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven To Address The Nation Tonight

Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S) gives a speech to the nation in SVT tonight on the occasion of the corona pandemic. “Sweden is under trial,” says Maria Soläng, press secretary at the Prime Minister.

The five-minute talk will be broadcast in SVT2 and SVT Play at 21.15, announces SVT .

I cannot go into exactly what the Prime Minister will say. But the situation is extraordinary, hence the talk to the nation, says Maria Soläng.

It is unusual for a prime minister to speak to the nation. The last decades have been after the assassination of Anna Lindh (2003) and when the Lasermann ravaged (1992).
On Tuesday, the prime minister and expert authorities held a telephone meeting with the leaders of the other parliamentary parties on the corona crisis. And when Stefan Löfven had questions during parliament on Thursday, there was great agreement between the parties.
The prime minister and the other parties’ representatives took turns to pay tribute to each other for the cooperation that is now taking place between the government and parliament, although more measures against the effects of the corona virus were requested.
