The Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S) has announced his resignation.
He will resign as prime minister and chairman of the Social Democrats in connection with the party congress in November, he says in his summer speech.
For next year’s election campaign, the Social Democrats will be led by someone other than me.
He says the decision has matured, that he has been in the post for a long time.
Now the process begins to produce a new party chairman.
According to SVT, the Social Democrats will hold an extra party board meeting later today.
