Spain wins 6-0 over Germany in the Nations League

Spain

Ferran Torres scored a hat-trick as Spain outplayed Germany, winning 6-0 in the Nations League summit

It is one of the rarities that Germany loses a national match. And when it does, it resonates on the European football scene.

Tuesday’s defeat to Spain will resound louder than ever.

The whole 6-0 won the Spanish hosts in the Nations League meeting between the two football giants.

Sensational figures. Shaving in Seville. Nothing less.

The Spanish offensive shone throughout the race, with the home team forced to win if first place in the group were to be taken over from tonight’s opponent.

It soon became clear that the change of throne would become a reality.

At the forefront of the sabotage was Manchester City star Ferran Torres. The 20-year-old profile delivered a distinguished hat trick and therefore stood back as the greatest hero.

But there are probably top marks across the board when the Spanish newspapers pass judgment.

The Germans were played out and exhibited in a triumph that for many years to come will be highlighted as historic.

The grandstands were empty at the Estadio Olímpico de la Cartuja, but the requirements for safe distance have certainly not been met in all living rooms on the Iberian Peninsula.

The Spanish people, like the rest of Europe, are still waiting for a vaccine, but on Tuesday night they got a shot of football of the finest quality.

One goal was nicer than the other. The Spanish team got carried away and kept chasing several goals. It was the demolition of a nation in prime time.

As Germany itself did in the World Cup semi-final against Brazil in 2014, where they also showed no signs of mercy and smashed Brazil 7-1.

On Tuesday night, Joahim Löw’s troops suffered the same fate. A six-goal defeat to a rival superpower. Germany has not lost so much since 1931.

The harsh reality is that Spaniards can probably only see the beauty in that fact.

Yet the citizens of the hard-hit nation will probably still nibble a little in the arm after this incredible feat.
