Rasmus Nøhr withdraws from party in Copenhagen

The “reopening party” has been announced as a demonstration on the one-year anniversary of the first major shutdown in March last year.

The musician Rasmus Nøhr will still not perform at a “reopening party” in Copenhagen, which has been arranged in protest against the corona restrictions.

A group calling itself the Freedom Movement’s Joint Council has invited to the party on Thursday 11 March on the one-year anniversary of the press conference where Mette Frederiksen announced the first major corona shutdown.

According to the organizers, Saszeline Dreyer and Alex Ambrose, among others, are on the program, featuring both music and speeches.

Rasmus Nøhr should also have performed, but he has chosen to retire. According to his notice, this is due to the fact that many of his colleagues have perceived the party as “a form of vandalism against the joint project”, which according to Rasmus Nøhr is to get out of closure and get everyday life back.

– The demonstration and my participation have led to grief and anger and misunderstandings, ie the exact opposite of what my intentions were, he writes on Facebook.

The so-called “reopening party” has been reported as a demonstration and has been approved by both the Copenhagen Police and the City of Copenhagen. Therefore, it is perfectly legal despite assembly bans.

Nevertheless, the event faces criticism from several quarters .

Former director of the Statens Serum Institut Nils Strandberg Pedersen has called it “completely insane”. And the Danish People’s Party’s health spokesperson, Liselott Blixt, believes that “it is selfish because they put everything we have fought for out of control”.
