Mette Frederiksen is canceling several events today.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) was last night assaulted by a man on Kultorvet in Copenhagen.

Now the State Ministry states in a written announcement that Mette Frederiksen was taken to Rigshospitalet after the incident.

She has suffered minor whiplash and is otherwise unharmed, but shaken by the incident, it says.

According to the plan, the Prime Minister should have participated in several events today in Herlev, Rødovre, Roskilde, Holbæk and Slagelse. But due to the incident last night, she has cancelled.

A man has been arrested after the assault, and this morning the Copenhagen Police announced on the social media X that a 39-year-old man will be produced today at 1 p.m. in a constitutional hearing at the Court in Frederiksberg.

Was beaten by a man

The news about the attack on the Prime Minister arrived last night before 9 p.m. At that time, it was heard from the Prime Minister’s Office that Frederiksen had been beaten by a man, which the Copenhagen Police confirmed.

– This evening there was an incident at Kultorvet involving the Prime Minister. We have an arrest in the case, which we are now investigating. We currently have no further comments or observations on the matter, the police wrote on X.

After the following, there was silence from the ministry, while a large number of Mette Frederiksen’s party colleagues and colleagues at Christiansborg reacted to the news.

Among others, Environment Minister Magnus Heunicke (S) wrote on X that Mette Frederiksen was ‘shocked’.

– Denmark’s Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, was today assaulted and beaten by a man on Kultorvet in Copenhagen. Mette is naturally shocked by the attack. I must say that it shakes all of us who are close to her, he wrote in a post on X.
