Lone loved life and held on bravely to the last, informs the former Minister of the Environment’s husband, Poul Nyrup Rasmussen.
This is stated by her husband, Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, in a written statement to Ritzau.

She turned 80 years old.
– She is and was my beloved, and I am so grateful for the life we have had together. With the great sorrows, but also the greatest and happiest moments. For her and me, love was the greatest.
From 1994 until her death, Lone Dybkjær was married to former Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen.
– Lone’s love for our little family, daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren was boundless. Lone loved life and persevered bravely to the last, says Poul Nyrup Rasmussen in the written statement.
Lone Dybkjær first became a member of the Folketing in 1973 for the Radicals and has since been active in Danish politics in various roles.
In 1988, she was appointed Minister of the Environment in the KVR government and, together with Minister of Social Affairs Aase Olesen, was the first female minister for the Radicals.
In 2011, she resigned from the Folketing. That same year, she was diagnosed with cancer, and she has spoken openly about the disease several times.
