Denmark extends suspension with AstraZeneca vaccine for three weeks

The Danish health authorities have decided to extend the suspension of AstraZeneca the vaccine for an additional three weeks.

This is stated by Søren Brostrøm, director of The National Board of Health , on apress conference .

The Danish health authorities set the vaccine was paused two weeks ago after a few isolated cases of blood clots were reported in Europe vaccinated .

Tanja Erichsen from the Danish Medicines Agency emphasizes the press conference that AstraZenecathe vaccine remains effective and safe.

– But it can not be ruled out that there is a connection between the vaccine and the very rare blood clot cases, she says.

Now the break will be valid until and including week 15 – until 18 April.

Søren Brostrøm explains that it is possible that the break ends before the three weeks have passed, if the results are right, he says.

– We are not finished with the analyzes, therefore we need more time, he says and adds that the Danish studies will continue throughout Easter .
