Children and adolescents make inroads into the statistics and are now the vast majority among those who are registered as infected with coronavrius.
This is stated in figures from the Statens Serum Institut.
The figures show that children and young people between the ages of 10-29 account for 37 percent of cases of infection in the past two weeks, while they account for only 24 percent over the past six months.
New test strategy is one explanation
According to Christian Wejse, epidemiologist and ward doctor at Aarhus University Hospital, it is gratifying that children and young people are responsible for a larger proportion of the new cases of infection.
– That’s good news. Children and adolescents become less ill from it and experience fewer symptoms. It is much better that they are responsible for the cases of infection than the elderly population, he says.
