The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has just announced that Christmas can not be held as planned in London and much of the south of England.
It comes after government virus advisers informed him that a new variant of coronavirus is up to 70 percent more contagious than the hitherto known.
London and the south-east of England are now moving from crisis level 3 to crisis level 4. The inhabitants of this area must stay at home except for a few limited exceptions. All non-essential stores and fitness centers must close and people must work from home unless that is impossible. People are also not allowed to travel in or out of the area, and you are only allowed to meet a single person who is not part of the household, and it must take place outdoors.
The new measures apply from tomorrow Sunday and as a minimum until 30 December.
