This morning, authorities in Belarus searched and blocked one of the country’s most popular and independent media TUT.BY.
The media is officially accused of tax evasion of an extensive nature and editor-in-chief Marina Zolotova has been arrested.
A number of journalists from both TUT.BY and smaller media have disappeared this morning and their colleagues suspect they have been arrested in a major operation.
President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s regime has continuously curtailed press freedom since this summer’s protest elections, but the blockade of TUT.BY is being called by the opposition the biggest attack on freedom. media for more than 15 years.
