Carla Sands, who was the US ambassador to Denmark during Donald Trump’s time as president, is now accused of violating a law on political activity while she was ambassador to Denmark.
It appears from a report from an official control body, the US Office of Special Counsel (OSC), to President Joe Biden. It writes the online media Politico .
The indictment alleges that Sands used the embassy’s official Twitter profile to urge U.S. voters to donate money to the election campaign that would see the re-election of her boss, then-President Donald Trump.
This is in violation of the so-called Hatch Act. It says that officials in the federal government as ambassadors work for all American citizens and not be partisan in their statements.
