2558 new infected with coronavirus in Denmark

Coronavirus

In the last 24 hours, 91,417 have been tested and 3 people have died with coronavirus.

2558 new cases of coronavirus have been registered in Denmark in the last 24 hours.

It shows the latest figures from the Statens Serum Institut at 2 p.m.

Today’s infection rate is the highest recorded in 24 hours. 91,417 have been tested.

51 people have been admitted. Thus, the total number of admissions has decreased by five to 349, of which 39 are on intensive care and 26 are on respirator.

At a high time with new restrictions, expert believes

Today’s infection rates are at a stable, albeit far too high level. This is the reaction from professor of clinical microbiology at the University of Southern Denmark Hans Jørn Kolmos.

– The number of new cases of infection clearly shows that it is high time that we have introduced new restrictions in the country, he says.

He points out that today’s record high infection rates must be taken seriously, but that one must also keep in mind that significantly more have been tested in the last 24 hours compared to the previous one. Thus, the test basis was 77,373 on Monday, while that number today stood at 91,417.

The professor is convinced that the new measures to slow the spread of infection will work, but that we must wait until the Christmas days before we see a real effect.

– When we get this far, it is up to the government to decide whether the restrictions should be relaxed or tightened, but I expect that we will see an effect, says Hans Jørn Kolmos.

New restrictions in 38 municipalities

On Monday, the government announced the plan for a new partial closure of the country to meet the spread of coronavirus in Denmark.

Today, the tightened restrictions in 38 of the country’s municipalities came into force.

The restrictions mean, among other things, that the older school pupils must once again be taught at home, and that restaurants, as in the spring, may now only serve food out of the house.
