The woman was in the media for the first time when in 2015 she insisted on wearing niqab for teaching at VUC in Lyngby.

A suspected foreign warrior has been sued by the court in Glostrup to travel to Syria and join the Islamic State. She pleads guilty.

She is also charged with trying to recruit a family member.

After the charge was read out in court, the doors of the hearing were closed. In addition, a name ban, which the woman was already protected from, is maintained.

The woman was present in court herself and was calm and smiling, TV 2’s reporter tells the scene. Also present were family members and a massive police call. The woman wore a green scarf and you could see her face.

Danish citizen with Lebanese roots

According to TV 2’s information, this is a 22-year-old woman who is a Danish citizen with Lebanese roots.

The woman was arrested Tuesday evening at Copenhagen Airport upon her arrival in Denmark. Since 2017, she has been in custody in absentia and internationally wanted.

In May 2019, Danish authorities tried to get the 22-year-old woman extradited from Turkey for violating a number of sections of the Criminal Code – including attempts to “promote the operation of a terrorist organization”.

Woman with Lebanese background

The 22-year-old was part of a larger group of women who left Denmark in 2016 for the purpose of joining the Islamic State, which at that time had a self-proclaimed caliphate in Syria and Iraq.

She officially traveled to Turkey, but since then, according to Information , police revealed that she had been staying in the Islamic State-dominated city of Raqqa in Syria.
